An ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, Nandikeshwara performed severe penance to become his gatekeeper.
Statues of Nandi are usually depicted / portrayed as a seated bull.
An unusual work of art in marble, where Nandi is sculpted in a standing posture, with gada in the upper right hand, deer in the upper left, the lower right and left hands together in Anjali mudra.
The “Om” symbol, crown and jewels, the attire with the delicate pleats, have been finely carved with great attention to details.
