    Shiva, the Hindu divinity, is portrayed as Nataraja, the heavenly cosmic dancer. The two most well-known dances of Shiva are Ananda Tandava, which is a powerful dance connected with destruction, and Lasya, which is a delicate dance associated with the creation of the world.

    The sculpture depicts the lord with 4 hands holding various objects in his hands, including a drum (damaru) that represents the rhythmic sound of creation, and a flame of fire (agni) that symbolizes destruction and transformation. There is a snake wrapped in his anterior right arm that represents 'Abhaya' (without any fear).
